STUDIO BRIEF 2- DESIGN FOR SCREEN
Create an immersive and engaging screen based user experience
identify:
the client, the problem, the target audience, overarching aims for the project.
Must be global, and have a far reach. it needs to have potential to deliver a world class experience.
Identify a problem that will be made easier through the app.
UX is user experience.
screen based:
computers, televisions, mobile phones, sat navs, HUD's, Projections.
ideas for my screen design so far:
-an app that helps you get ready in the morning.
-an app that syncs your calendars to your alarms so you don't need to set one.
-an app that changes your music depending on your mood.
-an app that orders you a taxi for when you need it, no need to order one yourself.

VILLAGE
Ben Holmes from village book store in Leeds. It is an independent book shop selling magazines, zines, publications and books on design.
a zine is an active participation which is refreshing in a world where everyone is getting information everyday and looking at loads of peoples work at ease with social media etc.
Made magazine based in Melbourne.
In order to make a book you need to look at the concept, it needs to have an under arching idea.
Then you need to look at the format, this has the potential to communicate alot. Design is important to show how the work on the page. There are many different ways of printing a book to suit the content and how you want people to perceive it. Paper stock can also make a massive difference and the binding of the book. The last thing is the fine details to bring the book together.
Matthew Connors- Fine in Cairo
Max Siedentopf- funny money

Christopher Nunn- Ukranian Street Dogs

STUDY TASK
We were given the task of shaping the text of the first page of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens in order to portray it in an aesthetic way. I took the part about gravestones and tried to make the body of text the shape of a gravestone. Changing the font for this helped portray the gravestone better.

BRIEF
This is my brief that I have written out for Kitty in order for her to create my book. This is just a brief overview as we have discussed the idea further in person on what each of us want from the book.
This is Kitty's brief she has given me. There is lots of room in this brief for my creative freedom. i feel kitty has a similar style to me from talking to her. i think we are on a similar page with our publications. to go with the photos we are going to put a brief description of the context of the book next to it, including how long she was there, why she was there and what she learnt from the experience. along with the photos i think a date and place name would be useful. The book will be based at creatives or anyone up to about middle aged. with a reasonably high price point in order to make a quality book. The colour scheme will be taken from pantone swatches from the photos. The book will have 5 sections of the 5 different parts of Sri Lanka she visited.
Competitive books on Sri Lanka for Kitty's publication tends to set out to celebrate the beauty of the country and inspire people to visit the country. The book has big images spread across the entire page with limited writing. From what I can see most of the books on Sri Lanka are travel guides. So it will be quite a unique book.
SWAPPING WORK
We have been told to swap with our assigned partners so the are going to be making each others book ideas. My Partner is Kitty and she is doing her book on Sri Lanka. She has lots of photos of her trip this summer so has set a brief of a photojournal.
These are the images that are going to become my content.
