BULLET POINTS FOR BOOK
Thes are the facts i have been given for each section of the book about the place itself. It is just a brief overview of the place in order to get across what was seen in each place but obviously the pictures are there to tell most of the story.
SIGUIRA
where the oldest tree in the world is believed to be, but have no photos as the sri lankans worship it and have put a temple all the way around
trains are renowned for being one of the things that every tourist should do when in sri lanka, hence the photos of the journeys from place to place
KANDY
a big, quite poor city renowned for its incredible temples.
temples aren’t allowed to be photographed, however lots of monks and locals give flowers and money to the temple to the gods and to maintain the temples
more train journeys heading to ella through the mountains
ELLA
renowned for being the ‘Tea Country’, where all the mountains are filled with tea plantations.
the time of year i went meant that the fields were full of locals harvesting their land
stayed in a hostel on the top of a mountain that had sunsets and sunrises with incredible views
was driven 25 minutes through the mountainous roads and dropped at the side in order to hike up a waterfall to reach the top where the pool was.
ARAGUM BAY
much more touristy here, therefore activity based
renting mopeds and tuk tuk’s exploring local beaches national parks
MARRISSA
known for whale watching - went whale watching and didnt actually see any whales, hence no photos
journey to marissa was very hopeful, but disappointed with it
GALLE
dutch colonial fort, with beautiful portugese, english and dutch architecture
galle known for its gem trade - mainly jewellery shops here
my favourite place - most peaceful, with none of the stresses of the other sri lankan places i visited
