BASSLINE ASSOCIATIONS

-140 bpm
-reload
-wobblers
-wonky
-bootleg
-vip
-samples
-riddim
-wip
-heads
-dubs
-heavy

Starting from these words i found my initial ideas hard to create they diddnt have much substance so i decided i needed some people from the scene to give me some ideas. so i posted in Lengoland, the facebook group that has given bassline a platform. On here people discuss topics surrounding the genre. i diddnt really recieve any good answers most of them have been jokes or unuseful but with all the answers i got i came up with the genral jist i was getting from the group

BASSLINE CRIT

In the crit i pitched my ideas to everyone and i described baseline to them including its history and how it exists now. i also showed them the people who listen to baseline.

Baseline originated in Sheffield in the late 90's to early 2000's  it had a bad name with violence so the club niche where bassline had a home got shut down. This has then left the genre without a platform until the rise of social media and music streaming sites. The music is dirty beats the the listeners describe as 'wobbly' often with pop music or grime vocals over the top. There is a big association with drug taking and rave culture.

My current ideas are to show the digital home of baseline through an object. this could maybe be:
-stickers that could be stuck on your laptop of phone
-phone case
-computer mouse
-memory stick
-laptop shell
-badge
-clothing
-hats

Another idea i had was to focus on the merchandise people use to create the music as there is a big emphasis on bedroom DJ's and DJ software and decks being easily available so anyone can give it a go.
-vinyl covers
-vinyl mats
-flag

The night out element could help me solve a real problem when people go out
-water bottles to keep them hydrated
-baggies for drugs
-bum bags
-dummies

FLAVOURS TAKEAWAY

Flavours is a fully vegan takeaway but breaks the stigma of 'vegan' as none of the food is advertised as vegan, it is advertised in the same way that any normal animal product selling takeaway would. The food will not be advertised as healthy and meat free like most vegan food is that is on the market now. The name flavours describes the food and how it can still be full of flavour even without animal products. The takeaway will have a low price point along with other takeaways that are typical along a high street and on takeaway sites such as just eat or deliveroo. The takeaways logo will be green in order to be vibrant and exciting to potential customers but also to reflect the natural plant based ingredients used.

INITIAL IDEAS

to start out designing the logo for the takeaway, i experimented with different typefaces in lowercase and capitals. from my previous research i realised that the takeaway needs a bold typeface to stand out and to be fitting of the universal takeaway design. From my experiments i have decided that i need a sans serif font

The names i came up with were:

- Guilty Takeaway
- Be Ethical
- Wisemans Takeaway
- Garden of Vegan
- Flavours Takeaway

VEGAN ARTICLE IN THE EASYJET MAGAZINE

The article discusses the rise in popularity of veganism and they try out plant based burgers and how meat is not actually missed as they provide excellent flavour without using animal products.
