A BREIF HISTORY OF TIME BOOKCOVER

The winning design will need to:
  • have an imaginative concept and original interpretation of the brief
  • be competently executed with strong use of typography
  • appeal to a contemporary readership
  • show a good understanding of the marketplace
  • have a point of difference from the many other book covers it is competing against
The book only contains one equation that is E=mc2 this was because his publisher was adamant that for every equation in the book the audience would be halved. The book is explained in non- technical terms.

The book discusses many areas of cosmology including the big bang and black holes and light cones.

There has been many telescope pictures taken of black holes and i really like the look of them its a very pretty image with the stars and galaxies around it.  The way light bends around it and gets sucked in is really aesthetically pleasing and i would like to incorperate a mockup of this on a book cover.

This is a diagram of a black hole and shows its structure and how things get sucked into the  hole. A scientific diagram would be a good thing to put on the cover as it would be informal but can also follow a strong graphic aesthetic.

I found this book by Huxley that has an interesting cover, they use 3D graphics to make the typography and illustrations stand out from the cover. The book also comes with 3D glasses which will add user participation to the cover and make it a fun experience rather than the cover just be forgotten.
