IKB is a deep blue hue which visual impact comes from its heavy reliance on Ultramarine. This colour was first mixed by french artist, Yves Klein. Over his lifetime from 1928 to 1962, he used the colour in nearly 200 paintings and trademarked it 'International Klein Blue' (IKB) in 1957. The colour is not only famous for its vibrant pigment but also the matte, synthetic resin binder used. Klein blue has made a comeback in contemporary graphic design and recently has become quite a trend. I found some examples of IKB being used in graphic design.
