OUGD403 studio brief 2 Adjectives Research

Adjectives

These are some of the adjective ideas I have had for the studio brief.I have summarised in a couple of words what personality each adjective has.

Excited- bold, random, energetic

Angry- bold, jagged, sharp

Irritated- jagged, sharp, non-conformist

Bored- simplistic letter forms, slow

Happy- calm, light, uniform

Jealous- italic, curved

Lonely- small, thin, rounded

Worried- sharp, broken,

Surprised- big, sharp, random

Lively- curvy, big, bold

Shocked- jagged, spaced out

Suspicious- thin, curved

Regretful- straight,
Paranoid- jumpy, random

Guilty- small, hidden, lowercase

Confused- uneven, winding,

Annoyed- angled, sharp,

Envy- green, italic, curved

Embarrassed- small, hidden,

Clumsy- broken up, uneven, messy

I want to choose a word that gives me a lot of scope for creativity, something with a good personality and lots of energy.

Surprised
Surprised is quite an energetic word I think, I can make the letterforms show the element of shock and show an expression that would be obvious on someones face (an open mouth, a jump/scream, wide eyes, raised eyebrows) all-round bold movements.

Angry
Angry is also energetic but maybe more pressured and can be held in and released. Angry letter forms would be sharp and structured but be bold and aggressive. An angry expression is gritted teeth, flushed face, narrowed eyes, narrowed eyebrows, shouting, fuming.

Out of the fonts I have been given I think that bodoni or caslon would be good as serif fonts as they show contrast in wieght distribution, this gives the letters dynamism. on the other hand I could use helvetica as it is bold and straight to the point. this would give me lots of scope when manipulating the letters.
